Hello All, hope you all doing great, I wanna know about the story of each of you knowing this band, the first song you heard that made you a fan of them. Here is my story, I remember that it was about five years ago, early morning when I woke up hearing a beautiful song on the radio, I did not knew whose it was, all I could think about was the beauty of it, the amazing drums, and the voice... even the lyrics are good. Few days later I heard it again in what it seems to be a happy coincidence , so wrote down some words to search for it, and that's what I did so I found that it's Dolores' voice, that's when I started to be a little fan of these guys, the more music I hear of them, the more I like them. And Today I received a message of the site telling me about the new stuff in here, so I came to find that it is really cool. Hope We make a good Cranberries community in this place.. b y e
I miss the winter, a world of fragile things..

I was having a party at my house near St. Louis Missouri with about 40 people. We were all upstairs or out on the deck. In the basement the big screen TV was on and hooked up to the stereo. Saturday Night Live was on and George Clooney was hosting. I went downstairs to bring up some more Murphy's Irish Stout. Just as I got down there The Cranberries started playing Zombie. I just sat down right there on the floor in the middle of the room and was transfixed. The only other time I can remember feeling like that was when The Beatles played Hey Jude on the Ed Sullivan show. Some friends came down looking for me, or more likely the stout. They started to talk and I shushed them. They got the stout and took it upstairs. I went out the next day and bought their CD that came in a box and only had the two songs Zombie and Linger on it. I have the DVD of Beneath The Skin Live in Paris. If I could go one place back in time it would be to that concert. I never got to see them live. When they came to St. Louis I had tickets but Dolores O'Riordan became ill and they had to cancel. When they returned I was ill and could not attend. Guess it wasn't meant to be. She has the most beautiful and unique voice I have ever heard since Karen Carpenter. Anyway, that's my story. Kindablue

Everybody else... This section reminds me of something. Well I became a fan when I was 12 I was listening in a car with my brother NNTA cassette, and I realised that this voice is from heaven of Dolores of course. Since then I became more and more fan of the band.

This is a nice topic, tGDA (do you also have a name, as well as a nickname?). Here's my story. Sometime around 1993, Italian radios had been frequently airing a song, 'Linger', by an unknown new band called 'The Cranberries'. Actually, I didn't happen to care too much about it. One night, I was studying around midnight with the TV left on Videomusic, a kind of Italian MTV, quite popular at that time. My attention was distracted from my book (I was an engineering student back in 1993) by an astonishing, unique voice: it was Dolores (though I didn't know her yet) singing 'Dreams', which was about to be launched in Italy as the new Cranberries single after 'Linger'. I was stroke with light like St. Paul on the road to Damascus: the following nights, around the same hour, I tuned in Videomusic just to watch that video again, without luck for quite awhile, until they finally aired it again. That was my first contact with The Cranberries. That video was responsible for making me mad about Dolores' voice. A few weeks later, 'Zombie' was released, and my first Cranberries album was 'No Need To Argue', instead of 'Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?', which I got later. Actually, none of the following albums has ever reached the same heights as those two.

I was on my way to nursing school one day and I heard the song Linger, after the song was over I waited for the DJ to say who the group was but he did not and I had to go to class. I heard the song again and went to a record store and asked the attendent who sang the song Linger. He told me it wa The Cranberries, I had never heard of them. I look for the CD, they had two CDs (everybody else is doing it ..... & no need to argue) even though I had only heard of the song Linger, I bought both CDs and after listening to the CDs that when I was HOOKED! I saw them in Atlanta, GA it was GREAT! I have bought all there CDs and DVDs. I love the group. The Cranberries became my favorite group. Even though they are doing some solo projects, I would rather have the group as one. JK

I heard it on the radio a few years ago, after looking on the internet for the station's playlist I found out the song was 'ode to my family'. I heard it again last year, and I searched on the internet for more songs of them, so I downloaded a few songs. I just imediatly loved Linger and Zombie from the first time i heard them, these songs still are my favorits and I often play them more than one time! just linger, again, and again. I decided to try to download ALL the songs of them, and offcourse the DVD. Yes, I downloaded them, I didn't go to the stores because I already knew they wouldn't have had the cd's. and as a student, I need my money hardly. So, I downloaded the dvd, listened it, and there it was: a new fan of the cranberries was born! The Cranberries are timeless Raymond (Netherlands)

I remember being transfixed by the video for "Linger", which got me to look further into their other works. Though being of Irish ancestry (Hogans as well) may have been a bigger influence on why I followed them further down the proverbial rabbit-hole... My family was displaced as a result of the Great Hunger (potato famine) in the 1840s, forcing those who managed to survive to leave their holdings in Ireland to look for work in Liverpool, England as they lacked the funds to travel to America until a generation later. That being the case, my family has always been big on keeping our history alive, and for my part, I became quite the scholar not only on our family's history, but that of Ireland itself from ancient times through the Easter Rising and on through the Troubles, so Zombie struck a particular chord in me and sealed my fate as a Cranberries fan. Having a song about my favourite poet, W.B. Yeats also helped substantially.
Give me liberty or give me something of equal or lesser value from your glossy 32-page catalog.

ahhhh I remember..... When I was 13 I heard a very singular voice, when I listened to it I was so surprised 'cause I've never have heard a voice like that before. Later, I started to search for that magnificent voice and, well I discovered it was from The Cranberries, the song was Ode to my family. I just got more and more into this, so now, I'm a complete Cranberries Fan.

What a great question!! I did not have the pleasure of becoming a fan until 2003 when I found out I was having a baby girl. I started to look online for "soothing" music for my baby. I didn't want it to be all nursery rhyme music and did research on artists with soothing female voices and came upon a link where someone commented on Delores O'Riordan. I went to the iTunes store and downloaded a few songs and from there I could never get enough. I had a beautiful daughter that was lulled to sleep by her voice and mine every single night. It was the most wonderful experience you could imagine. Now my daughter is 3 and asks to hear the "CWANBEWWIES" all the time. Her favorite is Chocolate Brown.(Recently put on the player THANKS SO MUCH!!) I have since then collected all the music and such that I could find and have always been hoping she would tour the U.S. I have also recruted many many Cranberries fans among my family since then- And have a few more to go......... Take Care!! Paula

As a college student 11 years ago, I have been very familiar of Zombie and Dolores' voice as the most unique voice I've ever heard. But I didn't care that much at the time. Just recently my son fell in love with the tune of Free To Decide I was singing in a minus one. He asked to hear it again so I took out the DVD of their concert Beneath The Skin Live in Paris bought by my ex-boyfriend from his travel abroad. After watching the whole concert, I was astonished by Dolores' voice the more 'coz I couldn't believe the way she sounded live. It was incredibly heavenly and angelic as if it was a masterpiece voice created by God. I also became attracted with the looks of Fergal. Yes, he's also heavenly! I love the way he smiled whenever the fans sang along. It seemed to give him some kind of reassurance that they are loved. And now, there's not a week that Beneath The Skin Live in Paris is never played in my home. And believe me, my son can sing almost all of the songs there; not the exact lyrics though (he's just starting to learn English). The Cranberries will always be in my heart whether or not they will be coming back as a group to amaze me once again. . .
but I'm in so deep. . .you know I'm such a fool for you
