I'm an acoustic musician. I don't know if you guys play electrics. Whenever I     did this song. I played the chords below, just regular open chords:

Em (022000)

Cmaj7th (X32000)

G6 (320000)

F#+A (200200)

My guitar is tune to the Key of D. If I wanna play along with the Cd. I Capo my  guitar up 2 frets. The reason I've tune down to D. I don't have to strain my voice when I sing. I find I can sing better in the Key Of D. 

Alot of guitarist use a standard electronic tuner, tuning to EADGBE and thats  fine but that's pretty much all you can do with it. I use a Sabine (MT9000) chromatic tuner. I'm not limited, I can get perfect tunings in any key. I would recommend buying a chromatic tuner to anyone. They pretty much cost the same. I paid $14 for mine. Try figuring out Kaki King's music with a standard electronic tuner...and you'll have a problem. She bounces around alot, using    alot of alternate tunings.

I think when it comes to guitar tabs, other than the person who actually wrote the song, opinions will vary. If your doing a live show or playing for friends, as long as it's soundable (Zombie)...it doesn't matter. The audience doesn't know what your playin', their just happy to be there.

I actually stumbled on to zombie by mistake. I was trying to play along to an Electric rocked up version to Smashing Pumpkins' Disarm and some where along the strumming I realised wait these are the chords to Zombie!

 

guitar playing is such an interesting thing. ANd I agree with crans4ever. Sometimes yo ucan even rework the song to something totally new. I have this habit of trying to turn any song into a ska song or reggae song.

As far as "Disarm" goes. I guess their are only so many chord progressions... they are bound to be identical in some cases. The melodys of both songs are definitely different though.

D'arcy Wretzky the Ex-Smashing Pumpkins bass player. I liked her, I thought she was pretty good. It was sad to see her leave the band. Last I heard she was living in Michigan.

I can give a hand with the solo.

 It's played with the two thinnest strings, tuned as E and B, just as standard tuning.

You need to play both strings at a time for every stroke. and the secuence is (both strings at the same fret)

7-8--5-7----7-7-7-7-8 (x3)

the last one you should do 7-7-7-7-5-5

and then the tone raises

7-10^12-12-12-10
10^12-12-12-10 (x2)

10-10-10-10^7

and then the first part again:

7-8--5-7----7-7-7-7-8 (I think it's twice)

yeah they are but in the rock version of disarm it's easy to accidentally slip into zombie. well for me anyways. have you heard the rock version?

According to the official songbook for NNTA, it's just a regular C. Though I've never tried it the other way, so who am I to say? Plus it doesn't make that much of a difference unless you're playing it on piano... and even then...

oh yeah i gotthe tab books those books are a little difficult to read IMO... I guess I should learn to read music because there's no tabs for pretty... in the book...
