Congratulations all forum members, I've just visited the forum main page and it's written there "2,000 users have contributed to  747 threads and  886 posts.  " and that's good thing, the Cranberries online community should really grow wide,

another thing; do you think that Dolores or any other Cranberries member is a forum member, do they pass by here when they have time, or they haven't seen yet how this site looks like, if anyone knows, please let others know

    have good time, b y e

You don't find it the least bit suspicious that they automatically had 1,400 users the day they put up the forums? And that if you actually add up the threads as shown on the index, it only adds up to 148 threads?

I think we should address these questions to Nicole, cranguy.  Maybe she's got some plausible answers.  For instance, maybe the initial 1,400 users included those who already had an account on the website.  Anyway, the 747 threads seem too much to me too.

Nicole, ARE YOU LISTENING?  We'd like you to dispel cranguy's doubts.

    Hey Alex -

I am almost certain that all the people who used to be a user on the old forums automatically got pulled over to these new, improved forums. I know that I was able to sign in with my old user name & password.....

Thats what I think the story is, anyway....

    Kelly  Huh?

Don't worry about it. Alex only worries about the fact that cranberries.com's forums might become more popular than his. He likes having the right to say that his forums are the biggest Cran forums in the world. This is just all very threatening to him that's all. He won't post on the forums unless one of two things: 1. he can make a rap at the site or 2. he can promote ZG. He wants the website to be lying so that he can win..... again. So really how much stock do you want to put in his posts?

And really who cares? Who cares if it has 2,000 users or 200 as long as it's enjoyable to post in. I guess Mel was right, size doesn't mean anything.

Meg, it doesn't really matter whether we're 2000 or 200 users, you're right.  But I'd be somewhat irritated if the website told we're 2000 while we're just 200.  That's what the Americans taught the world in 1998: who cares if Bill Clinton had an affair with Monica Lewinsky?  The point was: did he lie to the country? Big Smile  (Of course, nobody really believed THAT was the point, but this is another story.)

So I still think Alex's question deserves an answer.

Kelly, this is the first time that Cranberries.com has had a forum. I am guessing that the initial users were people on the mailing list. As for the overblown post count, I'm not sure where that's coming from.

In any event, it just seems to me that there were already users and phantom thread counts in the forum's database even before it started.

yes, that's right, it doesn't really matters how many users, cuz 20 active users are better than 2000 idle ones.

About were initial users here, i don't think people who were on the mailing list got into the forums as the initial community, cuz I've been on the mailing list, but I didn't get in as an initial user in here, also take into account that when we signed up years ago for the mailing list, only our email was taken, no much info as the people in here fill in their sign up forms, also i guess there's much more than 1400 people on the mailing lists.
But it's also weird that I signed up here the a little time after I got the new forum email, but my userid was about 3500

And please someone make this clear, some say that there'd been forums here before now, others say yes, and there's only one clue that I have about this, that's some users in here have IDs of 2xxx, and that's before we signed up for sure

     Confused

I am almost certain that the Cranberries had forums before, whether it was when they were cranberries.ie or when they switched to cranberries.com.....

Am I the only one that remembers the old forums????? And I'm not talking about ZG, as I have only RECENTLY started to read those.....

    Kelly  Hmm

I suppose you're right.... seems to me you usually are lol. But I guess it's too much work to worry about it and I'm a lazy person.Big Smile

Mel is one of my best friends on the whole planet. We have long discussions that 90% of the time make no sense whatsoever. She's an amazing person.

Nonsense discussions are definitely the most interesting!

Meg & Mel: sounds nice...  Have you ever thought about putting up a duo?  Something like the Mel & Kim of the 3rd millennium...  Don't mind, Meg, I'm just kidding. Wink

We launched the new design of Cranberries.com in November 2006. Since launch, fans have had the ability to sign up for an account, even though the forums were launched at a later date. You also need to sign up for an account when shopping in the Cranberries.com Store (it's the same account).

This is why the community was 1400 people strong when the forums launched. Also, this information only became visible when the forums launched, which is why the number might have caught you off guard.

Even though there might have been forums on a previous incarnation of the Cranberries official site, we did not pull from that list. Nor did we populate it with the mailing list - that's a completely separate sign-up area.

As for the post and thread count, we are looking into it. My first guess would be that the boards went through a lot of testing before launch, all those threads and posts were deleted at launch but they might still be included in the statistics you see at the bottom of the page.

    Hopefully that answers your questions.

    Cheers, Nicole
