It's quite funny: when asked "Where are you from?", people from Mexico answer "I'm from Mexico", people from Italy answer "I'm from Italy", people from China answer "I'm from China", and so on.  Why do people from the US answer "I'm from Kentucky" or "I'm from Pennsylvania" instead of "I'm from the United States"?  It's as if I answered "I'm from Lombardy"...
