From Canada... Everyone thinks I put maple syrup on everything I eat, and play hockey 24/7 and I wear a touque on my head all the time... Well It's only the partial truth! Haha I love hockey, maple syrup on my pancakes, or sometimes I'll put it on the cereal so make it sweeter ;) and I wear a touque once in a while when I don't feel like having my afro puffin out....

Some of the nicest people I've met are from Canada! It's one place I want to go back to if I ever do an OE.

Forgive my ignorance, but what's a touque?

Forgive my ignorance, but what's an OE?  I may suppose Overseas Experience...  I guess anglophones will soon suppress all the words and use only acronyms. Smile

If you tell us that your streets aren't crowded with bears, we'll have no difficulty in believing you.  But if you try to convince us that you have a Caribbean climate, I guess you won't be very credible... Big Smile

    I am from Bulgaria
Most people may noit have evr heard about it. Most stereotypes are true; for example most people are pesimists and don't care about what is going on around them. However, I happen to be different ;)

I'm from Uruguay, in South America....

    Couple of stereotypes might be:

1- We are a part of Argentina. Damn wrong, we are a diferent country :)

2- We spend all day long listening to Tango, etc. Also wrong, only 70 year old people are likely to, most of us listen to rock music :)

3- Some people tend to think of us badly, for example once my dad was in europe as a job trip, and in a pub when he said he was Uruguayan, they took the ashtrayt from him, they were afraid that he could steal it (doh). We aren't like that, just sometimes we get confused with Argentinians, we are pretty similar, but also diferent, if ya get my point. (I don't think Agrentinians would steal ashtrays neither)

4- Our country is all grass and hills, and cattle, and little towns. Not true, we've got some nice cities, not that big, but over 1.5M live in our capital city, Montevideo.

5- Punta del Este is a great place. Yea, one of the best beaches in the world, white sands, blue sea, nice people and great places to visit. And also a myth that Punta is our Capital, well it ain't :)

Hope this will do. BTW has anyone visited Uruguay??

You forgot the 6th stereotype, fabrig:

6- Almost all Uruguayans play football and all Uruguayan footballers are "leg-breakers".  Well, maybe you didn't mention it in your list because this is not a stereotype, this is the truth! Stick out tongue

my name is marcos and I live in bauru, Brazil and Brazil's stereotype typical is: a good soccer, carnival year all, exuberant forest and pretty women.
However in fact, soccer isn't more, so good thus, the carnival was going sold for local mafia, the forest this being deforested, however the women are actually pretty, but they like a lot of money. Paradise

Well, it's very likely to be true, at least in most cases Stick out tongue

I play at the Universitary leagues, and man, they're serial killers!!

Also another thing about Uruguay, we are very similar to Ireland in terms of population, territory, etc. That includes drinking a lot of beer too Wink
