Where are you from and what is the dumbest stereotype about your homeland?

Canada - that we all live in igloos, wear only denim or dead animals, and say 'eh constantly.

Where are you from and what is the dumbest stereotype about your homeland?

Italy - That we are noisy, can't help gesticulating all the time when we talk, eat tons of pasta and can't speak a decent English.  Of course, all these dumb stereotypes are (almost always) true!

PS - Hey, GreenGirl, don't tell me you don't really live in an igloo, EH?

California. ok really I'm from Russia, but haven't been there in 10 years so whatever.

I don't surf. I've never seen a movie star in person. I don't even watch tv. The beach is a two hour drive from where I am.

I AM a liberal. Sometimes even a raging one.

So, tell us some dumb stereotypes about Pittsburgh, PA!  Does everybody work at a steel mill like Jennifer Beals in Flashdance?

Germany! Horrible stereotypes, I think I don't even need to write them down here...

I suppose you say about German, they were hard-working and punctual, or nationalsocialist and racist, or drinkin beer, eatin bratwurst and sauerkraut. Oh yeah, quite a lot, huh?

There's another stereotype you didn't mention, DavidL, but it's not really a stereotype, it's simply true: you always lose against Italy in the World Cup! Big SmileBig SmileBig Smile

Lol! Uh, lets see one. Well most of the stereotypes used on Pittsburgh are true. They do say "G'eet yet?" they do say "yins"  they do freak out and have heartattacks (seriously) if the Steelers lose a playoff game (which sadly to say has happened a lot)..... uh I guess the only thing I can think of is the steel mill thing. Pretty much no one works in a steel mill anymore, even though the tallest building in Pittsburgh is "The Steel Building" and their football team is named "The Steelers". lol.

I lived in Indonesia, East Borneo where country culture still strong. I love to live here it's so peaceful and secure.

But, honestly... I really want to move to Europe. but sad I didn't have money that much to go there. Maybe someone here can send me some money so I can go there. I'll be servicing all they needed too...

As you mentioned the Steelers, tell me one thing, Meg.  How comes that, whenever I run into some highlights of a Steelers game on an Italian TV (which actually happens quite seldom, as you may imagine -- about once every two years! Smile), they're always playing under an apocalyptical snowstorm?
