    Good!

I never liked that place, the admins were such wankers.

Take me for granted you are taking the piss!

What amazes me is that I'm going to respond to this post...

    gemmarum:

    a second thing:

If some of you think they should cry because of Zombieguide-closure, they should ask Alex to record albums and do Dolore´s concerts. For some of you it seems that Alex is even more important than the artist herself. PityPityPity....

No, it's not about that at all. I got along with Alex less than anyone but I'm still taking his side on this. Dolores is a nobody now. There's no getting over it. Perhaps if the Cranberries got back together it'd be different (which I still doubt), but as of now she has almost no celebrity. He tried his best to keep what little a fanbase she had rallied around her. She treated that gift like , now you people support her. Amazing. Dolores isn't perfect you know. She's very, *very* far from it.

And Alex is far, *far* from perfect himself.

Direct quote from Alex: "Three people who work for Mrs. Burton told me in the period between 2005-2007 that she was interested in the domain. Again, no suggestion was made other than I surrender it."

Alex was approached three times by Dolores' people, which means he refused three times to "surrender it". It's obvious that after hearing that Danny Kronstrom, from the-cranberries.com, was offered an undisclosed amount of money for his domain a few years ago, Alex was holding out for a monetary offer for the domain in lieu of simply surrendering it.

I think (my opinion time) that Alex's heart wasn't in it anymore, and he had just been looking for an excuse to quit. Like I said, look at the amount of updates to the site over the last year in comparison to the past.

"but I'm still taking his side on this."

And what side is that? Dolores had every right to HER OWN DOMAIN NAME. Now she tried to go about it civilly, and only THREATENED a law suit after three years. That threat had nothing to do with zombieguide.com.

Dolores DID NOT shut down zombieguide, Alex did, for reasons, in my opinion, he should have kept to himself. But that's not how Alex rolls, he shut down his site in such an immature over the top way in order to try to turn Dolores' fans against her.

I'm still quite sad because of ZG closed, I really really hope everything there (and the forums) won't disappear, please...

Many of the members there (minus Alex) have reformed at zombieguiders.com

A news site will be up fairly soon.

Not at all. It just means they were negotiating and the negotiations finished when the manager was fired. Nobody ever approached him again

I don't see you running a great fan site. You know, it's not that easy (and cheap). He was tired, he wasn't as much into the cranberries as he used to be, and Dolores & Co. treated him the way we all know (weather he deserved it or not, it's not at stake here). He had every damn reason and right to close a site where he was wasting his time. It wasn't appreciated by the singer, so why bother. It wasn't childish. I think he needed a break and that surely made it easier for him to take it.

Okay, but it just seems like a pretty big leap from not contacting him at all to out of the blue sending a law suit threatening letter. I'm not saying I don't believe you, I'm still trying to understand the situation myself.

I wasn't saying that he was childish for shutting the site down, I'm saying he could have handeled the shutting down of the site in more of a mature manner. In my opinion he did it in a way too over dramatic way.

I could never argue the greatness that was zombieguide, when Alex had his heart in it, it was an amazing site. But like I said before, over the last year, its been obvious his heart wasn't in it anymore.

I agree with IcicleMelts about the way that he shuted down the site, he was childich. And it was easy to see that he got bored. Unfortunately.
