As you all probably know, Zombieguide is closing. And now? Where will we go? Which forum on? I think that for the moment this is the best international place to speak.

I've bitten my tongue on this subject for quite some time. Not for nothing, but if Alex was such a big fan (I know he reads this forum), he would have enough respect for Dolores to sell if not GIVE the domain over to them. He knew what he was doing when he bought it.

Alex, I know that zombieguide was a great place for people to get information on the band, and then when they broke up, all of the solo projects, but in my opinion, you're wrong.

    Thats all.

PS yes I did visit zombieguide alot, and even contributed (very little) to the forums over there, thats not a secret. This is just my opinion.

My thoughts on the matter are as follows:

~The world's largest Cranberries website www.zombieguide.com is closing due to legal threats by Dolores O'Riordan. And while I haven't always gotten along with Zombieguide's management, this is truly a sad loss to the Cranberries fan community. I'm extremely disappointed in Dolores' actions, and will not forgive or forget. That's hardly a way to show appreciation to a website that has rallied the Cranberries fan world together. R.I.P. ZG. And Alex, for all of our differences, I'm sorry you're going out this way. You have done a fabulous job and it's our loss as fans, and Dolores' loss as an artist. Good luck, I hope all else works out for you. No hard feelings anymore.~

This cos I didn't realize there was already a topic about ZG closing and I was too lazy to edit my post. :)

But all of that crap they were saying on Dolores' official site is bullshit. I know Alex well enough to know that if Dolores would have seriously (not suggest it and drop it like they did) wanted him to run her official site, he would have done it in a heartbeat. What Thomas said is that they casually suggested it and then never emailed him back. When they finally got around to emailing him back the guy said he was no longer her manager. Or at least that's what I understand. He (Alex) mentioned them wanting the domain name before on the forums and said he would give it to them if they asked. I shouldn't stand up for him cos he's been such an ass in the past but I can't help it. What they're doing to him is bull. A lot of Cranberries fans would have forgotten them if it wasn't for Zg and this is completely uncalled for and unfair.

I'm disagreeing in a friendly way of course. You know I think you're awesome Kelly. ;)

It is a great loss. ZG was a fantastic source of information. I remember when I first discovered it years ago when I became a Cran fan, and how  helpful I found that site (and continued to do so).

I'm sure I don't have all the information, but it seems to me that closing down ZG is a rather extreme response - is it really necessary to "throw the baby out with the bath water"..?

Dedicating seven years of your life to something like that and then getting no appreciation for it is rather understandable... plus I think he's been considering closing it for awhile now.

No hard feelings, Meg, for sure! No worries there.

I actually hadn't gone to Dolores' website until after I read your post. I stopped going there since there were barely ever any updates.

Don't get me wrong, Zombieguide has been huge and quite the asset for 'berries fans, etc....I just have my own personal opinions about how it should've been handled. Doesn't change the way I feel about the site itself.

It is too bad it's being shut down. I'd rather see Alex pass over the domain doloresoriordan.com to Dolores and continue to run ZG. Everyone knows the website and it's not like it would fall to the wayside. Who knows, maybe he'll change his mind down the line.....

    Anyway....thats my other 2 cents....

    i TOTALLY AGREE with you!!!!!

    i've said this many times.

Dolores asked several times before what belongs to her,

None says Alex didnt make good work or anything,
    but that was a mistake!
no excuses to his rufuse to give her her domain name.

and no reason to close the zg site.
it is his own decision, it could have been better!

im really sad some fans turned their backs to dolores because of this.Sad
