    Meg:
    I absolutely adore Ecstasy!

Really?  Who would have said that? Big Smile

    Meg:
As for In the Garden, I heard it when it leaked in '05 and I loved it then but I think I overplayed it a little...

I didn't know it had leaked before.  The same loud volume computer, I suppose, huh? Huh?

For me it has to be October & When We Were Young! Everything is okay! Except Esctasy which I still hate! "Look you made me do this to myself, look you made me do this to myself!" You did it to yourself whatever you did to yourself sorry guys hate the song!
Don't stand in my, with nothing to say, you think you didn't get away, I'm so lost without you, I'm sorry my friend, this is not the end, I'll do it without you, I'll do it again, I'll do it...

That's what Dolores is saying. People delude themselves into blaming everything they ever did wrong on someone else instead of themselves. She's saying that's how people think, and it is. I know cos I have a drug-addicted brother. When people get on drugs they usually do it cos they think the "world is out to get them, man" sometimes it's because of pain, like my brother, but even then they still find ways to blame things on everyone else, instead of taking the blame for themselves, hence:

"Look you made me do this to myself".

It's actually a really good point. People need to grow up and stop blaming everyone else for everything. If you do something wrong it's your own damn fault, get over it. Maybe when you were a kid people picked on you but you can't go and kill someone for it. Two wrongs don't make a right. Everyone has things happen that maybe they wish didn't and maybe they want to take back but you can't take that out on everyone else. Everyone has "demons" you have to move on though. Hence: I love Ecstasy.Big Smile

Wow, Meg, what an analysis!  Really convincing, I must admit.  Who knows if Dolores really meant all these things when she wrote the lyrics.  If she didn't, I'm sure she would have liked to mean what you think she meant! Big Smile

Thank you and I usually think about song meanings. I mean I can think of the song meaning anything else. It makes sense to me.

Yeah I hope he will too. Drugs are a very dangerous things.

Where did she say that? Just curious I don't think I read that interview.... which is weird cos I thought I'd read all of her solo interviews.....

I love the whole album! But my fave has to be Human Spirit. I love everything of it: lyrics, music...

Other faves are In The Gardan, Angel of Fire, When We Were Young and Ecstasy! (I also thought this last one was about drugs...)

    Litsa

Well I wasn't going to say it was about her family....

Sadly to say I can't listen to that right now cos I don't have sound. I will when I can though.

I love Ecstacy and Stay with Me... Ecstacy has such a dreamy feel to it, and Stay With Me is so strong and sad-sounding.

I totally agree. I love Ecstasy cos it's fantastic and it's by far my favorite but Stay With Me is totally badass too. It reminds me of one of my favorite Metallica songs, Nothing Else Matters.

By now Stay With Me has become my favourite song from Are You Listening?

I thought that die-hard metal fans didn't love Nothing Else Matters, at least this is what a friend of mine, inveterate Metallica fan, affirms.  You're confirming my diagnosis about your personality, Meg: a romantic soul inside a metal heart. Big Smile  (Metal Heart is a song by Garbage; I love Garbage!)
