Reunion albums are a delicate thing.  There seems to be a trend in really good bands taking a hiatus or breaking up for a while (sometimes a long while) and then reuniting to do an album... and having that album flop.  I don't mean that they are commercially unsuccessful, but that the music disappoints.  I'm not saying that I don't have faith in the Cranberries, but I can't think of an example to the contrary and I would really hate for them to put out an album just for the sake of it and have it not live up to our expectations.  If the Cranberries ever got together and felt like the time was right and achieved the same amazing chemistry, I would love to hear the result.  But it's risky business and I hope that they only decide to do another release if it really is a good idea and is handled well.

i think that it's impossible not to hope in a reunion... at the moment this is just utopia...

    Meg:
Well I must respectfully say that if all you've heard is Ordinary Day than I'd kind of understand and it's really not the best to judge the album by. While I like Ordinary Day there are definitely far better tracks off the album (most notable are Ecstacy!!!, Black Widow and October). Wait to hear the rest before ruling the whole album as failure. I expected to dislike the album (in all honesty I overplayed the Cranberries and haven't listened to them in a long time) but it was a nice little surprise. And she sounds (...on most tracks....) as good as ever.

Actually, Meg, I've listened to the whole album, but as I wrote in my previous post in this topic, I've listened to it only once, and once is never enough to deliver a judgement.  So, I'll definitely accept your advice and I'll listen to the album more carefully, especially paying attention to Black Widow, October and Ecstasy (your three exclamation marks are making me impatient to listen to it again!).

I'll let you know my opinion then!  You know that, being an 'open-minded fan', I'm quite demanding! Big Smile

    Cheers,
    Luca

Altough it seems from year to year more improbable that an album is going to appear, Dolores often says, the door isn't shut. That's good, I suppose :) :)

i think all of us would love to have them back as a band...we loved them this way..

but to be honest im pretty satisfied with the solo period...
i only think of this now..

Mono Band is the new band of Noel Hogan, former Cranberries' guitarist.

Low Network is the new band of Fergal Lawler, former Cranberries' drummer.

Dolores has been really contradictory about it all... she says that the door isn't closed, but then goes and says she doesn't talk much to Noel. You can't have a band reunite if the members don't talk.
And as others were saying earlier, yes there are now three bands from which to anticipate releases. But, they are NOT the same as the Cranberries and, besides Dolores's album, I'd prefer a new Cranberries album to a release from the other two bands.

and cue the bashing because it sounds like I hate Mono Band and the Low Network. I don't. Well... I have issues with Mono Band, from things that happened last year. Meg knows.

Yeah the exact same issues I have with MB, lol it's my fault. I've tried to forgive and forget but I don't think I ever will. I like holding grudges.
