two reasons for this thread... I need a book to read for a project; the book I will mention in a bit is too short and that makes me very sad. and I'd like to drop the name of a very awesome book.
Grab On To Me Tightly As If I Knew The Way by Bryan Charles. omg I love this book.

My favorite book is Gone With the Wind but you've already read that. What about LIttle Women by Lousia May Alcott? Heartwrenching, classic. Or A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, though you'll be depressed for weeks. Maybe, Anne Of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. Anne reminds me of Dolores... lol.

Ok, Meg, you are NOT allowed to recommend me books. EVER. you're too much my twin.
    1. Gone with the Wind. I read that. Twice. In a row.
    2. Little Women. Read that too. Possibly twice in a row. Depressed me.
    3. A Tale of Two Cities. It's on the recommended list for this year. Don't feel like reading it at the moment.
    4. Anne of Green Gables. Read the whole series. Own the whole series.

Wow, that's weird!! I didn't know you read all of those.... How about See Spot Run, now *THAT* is a classic! Lol, did you ever read the Witch of Blackbird Pond or Calico Captive? For some weird reason the author's (the same for both) name has slipped my mind. Elizabeth something I think. GOD! Why can't I remember?

I somewhat distinctly remember talking about Little Women and Anne of Green Gables at some point.

Now those books I have not read.... I might look into them but right now I'm looking for stuff written similarly to Grab on to Me Tightly As If I Knew The Way (from now on known as GOTMTAIIKTW or some shortening)

Here are my favourite best 5 books, Anna, in alphabetical order by author (a way to say that I can't decide which is my absolute favourite):

    • Isabel Allende, The House of the Spirits
    • Umberto Eco, The Name of the Rose
    • Milan Kundera, The Unbearable Lightness of Being
    • Amos Oz, A Tale of Love and Darkness
    • Abraham B. Yehoshua, The Lover

A Chilean, an Italian, a Czech and two Israelis.  No Americans, sorry. Sad

    Hey ktkat -

I own that book, but never got into it. I may have to give it another try! I've heard such good things about it. Great suggestion.

    Kelly,

Please do persevere with it! It is well worth it by the end. I was going crazy! In the best possible sense, of course. That book had me sitting at the table with a dictionary and notepad, excitedly looking things up... Once you have read it, you should check out the HoL forums - some people have discovered the craziest (coolest) things about that book!

    Hey ktkat:

I actually did check out those forums back when I first got the book. I will make room for it as soon as I'm done with my current book!

    I'll keep you updated!

Crime and Punishment rules!Cool and Coelho yes! (although I think the right title is Veronika Decides to DieWink) I'd also recommend The Alchemist by him.

Ok, adding more good books...it's too hard becaure there are too many! to begin I'll mention The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, it is short, easily understandable, and great!
