    Galaxie 500

Here's another great band that actually broke up in the early 90's. I've got two of their albums, this band rocks. Originally from New York, Galaxie 500 fronted by Dean Wareham on Guitar and Lead Vocals, Naomi Yang on Bass and Damon Krukowski on Drums had a sound all their own back in 1987. A rock journalist once said that Galaxie 500 were alternative rock when the term wasn't even invented yet.

If people have never heard of this band, it's not surprising, they were virtually unknowns in America right up until their demise; Galaxie 500 were actually bigger in Europe where they toured extensively. The group who's debut album Today that Melody Maker once called "an astonishing debut by anybody's standards" broke up in the spring of '91. The Galaxie 500 catalog consists of a mere 3 albums that are all solid works; Today, On Fire and the band's swan song This Is Our Music.

Galaxie 500 were a great band and one well worth checking out, they've got a very distinct sound.

I've heard form them! I have a song called "When you will come home". I think they're quite unique.

    THE CHURCH

I'm not shure has anyone heard for this band but this is a great alternative/neo-psychedelia band from Sydney, Australia. They started at the begining of '80s. They're song "Under the MIlky Way tonight" was on Donnie Darko soundtrack (btw. excellent soundtrack). This song is on their album "Starfish" from 1988. That is one of their best albums and most famous one. They have about 20 albums. Their first album is from 1981. called "Of skins and heart".

I like the Church, excellent band, I don't have any of their albums though. I like "Under the Milky Way tonight," great song. Their guitar sound sort of reminds me of The Smiths and The Alarm.
