I'm from Uruguay, in South America....
Couple of stereotypes might be:
1- We are a part of Argentina. Damn wrong, we are a diferent country :)
2- We spend all day long listening to Tango, etc. Also wrong, only 70 year old people are likely to, most of us listen to rock music :)
3- Some people tend to think of us badly, for example once my dad was in europe as a job trip, and in a pub when he said he was Uruguayan, they took the ashtrayt from him, they were afraid that he could steal it (doh). We aren't like that, just sometimes we get confused with Argentinians, we are pretty similar, but also diferent, if ya get my point. (I don't think Agrentinians would steal ashtrays neither)
4- Our country is all grass and hills, and cattle, and little towns. Not true, we've got some nice cities, not that big, but over 1.5M live in our capital city, Montevideo.
5- Punta del Este is a great place. Yea, one of the best beaches in the world, white sands, blue sea, nice people and great places to visit. And also a myth that Punta is our Capital, well it ain't :)
Hope this will do. BTW has anyone visited Uruguay??
