Hey Maggie... when you go to San Francisco, you don't necessarily have to stay in the city. Most suburbs are served by this thing we call BART, it's a train thing (stands for bay area rapid transit) and from Fremont, the end of the line, it's $10. So what I'm saying is you could probably stay outside of SF for cheaper and "commute in." what sucks is that the Fillmore is far from a BART station so you'll have to either walk or take the bus.

You must have quite a weird opinion about Europe over there in America...

Talking about a youth hostel in (for instance) Amsterdam, a European would probably say: "if it is really as unsafe as America, please let me know..."

I didn't mean to sound odd, it's just what I heard and read on Wikipedia.  I guess when you don't know about something you judge it and listen to people, even if they aren't educated in the area of subject   ...That's silly of me considering I hate it when people judge my intelligence based on my disability...

 Let me rewrite my question...are hostels more unsafe then ghettos? I mean generally anywhere in the world

I think that it is kool that you are going to tour with the cranberries. it is sad for me, because they are not going to have a concert near me. i am in north america in the state arizona. i am only 15 and i can not ask anybody for a ride to the nearest concert which is in Denver, Colorado on July 17. So good luck with the tour. I hope you get to meet Dolores.

  So fast if you can tell me in that respect it would help.  Also I'm taking the VIA rail (I'm excited a train with wi-fi!!!) from Montreal to Toronto...is there only one train station in Toronto?  Is it near the area where The Phoenox is?

  P.S.  I'm starting to get real excited about this trip.  I think I'll have to get a HUGE memory card (2 gig card, then I'll have a total of 3 GIGS of memory :P ) for the trip.   I just hope most venues let me bring in the camera.   I know a lot of people sneak em in..maybe I may because mine slips easy in my jeans pocket...I just don't know if security ever takes it away if they catch you, because I know some don't allow it and I've never been to a club thus far that hasn't.

 

Maggie, there is only one train station and its downtown so you are pretty lucky in that aspect. The train station is connected with the subway transit system so it will be relatively easy to get the Phoenix concert theatre. I haven't took a look at where the Montreal concert venue is but I am pretty confident that its going to be like Toronto (everything is centralized). Most of the entertainment, sports and music facilities are downtown and easily accessable by train and transit.

Send me a PM and I will mail you some tourist maps, it will tell you all the transit stops and the route you need to take to go to the venue. 

If you want I can find out the prices of some hotels/hostels near the venue.

 

 

 

 

regarding cameras,every artist and venue has their own policy.

I find in general that:

1) point and shoot cameras are okay

2) no professional grade cameras

3) sometimes you can't use the flash

totally agree. and about #3. I was once told that I could use the flash after the third song. I dunno why, it was weird. Also, if you know how to properly set up the camera and stuff, you can get better pics without flash.
