    Tegan and Sara

Tegan and Sara Quin are these two brillantly talented twin sisters out of Canada. They've recently released a new album The Con and it's pretty good. It's produced by Chris Walla (Death Cab for Cutie). These women sound like nobody and their vocal harmonies especially at the chorus, are incredible. The Con is their fiflth album release. I don't think it's as good as the duos 2004 Breathrough album So Jealous but it's damn close. Their currently on the cover of Under The Radar...check 'em out.

    Butterfly Boucher

Butterfly originally hails from  Australia but these days calls New York home.   But here once again is another massively talented female. Her album Flutterby released in 2004 in my opinion was one of the best album releases by any chick that year. This Cd is a stellar piece of music, solid track for track. Her vocals remind one of Dido they sound similiar but musically...they are radically different. It's been 3 years sense her last album release and she's currently working on a new album.

I've actually seen this Topic as a Discussion Board  within a few sites...          Lisa Loeb.Com is one example. People post within' this area, new music  or other artist, they are passionate about.

I think it's a good idea...a discussion board for new music.

This is a very good idea. But I don't have any new artist to reccomend. Nothing that I listen is new. I can reccomend something that is new to me.

For those who like MAZZY STAR (and for those who didn't listen yet, they should try).

I'm listening Mazzy Star for some time and I like them very much. Their music is cute, sweet, sensitive, relaxing, spiritual. The singer, Hope Sandoval, has very beautiful, calming voice.

The thing that I didn't know is the album by Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions - Bavarian fruit bread (year 2001.). So I recommend that, too.

Well there is something new. He's not the new artist but he has new album.

DAVID GAHAN - The new album - Hourglass (single - Kingdom).

Everybody knows for Depeche Mode, but not everyone knows about David Gahan's solo work. He also has album from 2003. called Paper Monsters.

    Music  Listen and enyoj!!  Cool

    P J Harvey

If you've never heard of Polly Jean Harvey. I strongly recommend her. This woman is incredible. I don't think she has ever put out a bad album. She just released a new cd White Chalk that came out here in the states on Oct. 2nd. This record is radically different than anything she has ever done before. She has pushed the piano to the forefront and this is the primary instrument she plays on the disc. I just purchased White Chalk today. I think fans of Polly's like myself will buy this album because we love her music so much...it doesn't matter. This album is different though. My favorite P J Harvey albums: Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea and Is This Desire?

Rolling Stone has reviewed Polly's new album White Chalk and given it 4 Stars.

I agree with Lucija as well on Mazzy Starr...they were a great band. Hope Sandoval has such an excellent voice. Last I heard she had lauched a solo-career. I have one of Mazzy Starr's albums So Tonight That I Might See.

As far as recommending an artist, album or other music. It doesn't have to be   new. It can be anything  Joy Division,The Cure, Oasis ect.,anything  someone likes. I only have two Smiths albums. I'd be interested to know what the rest of their catalog sounds like. I think this is a good way to discover new music or music we've never heard.

Ok, I think PJ Harvey is fantastic, too!

I love... well, loads and loads of stuff, really.

I would recommend looking up Linda Perry's solo efforts (In Flight and After Hours). I'm also really into The Dresden Dolls, Regina Spektor, Collide and Rasputina at the moment. Ooh, and Mindless Self Indulgence! Ok, this whole "recommend some music" thing might be easier if you were after a particular style or something...

O.K. Most people know about THE SMITHS but if some of you didn't listen them, you need to. They are the kings of the '80 alt.rock (music and lyrics). And also MORRISSEY solo work. He is unique.

But most people don't know about Johnny Marr (guitar -  Smiths) and his other work, with Bernard Sumner from New Order, called ELECTRONIC. I recommend album Electronic from 1991.

I  agree Polly Harvey is fantastic. I've pretty much everything she's ever done except the Rid of Me album. Most of the stuff I own is used...new cd's are way to expensive.

As for Linda Perry, I also agree...she rocks. Pink called her one of her major musical influences when she was growing up. Linda's got a powerful voice. I have  one 4 Non-Blondes album. I guess my favorite song would be What's Up?

I have a question on Regina Spector? I don't know if you have her album Soviet Kitchka. I was just wondering if that was a better album than her latest release Begin To Hope?

     Welcome to the forum Arnal.Smile

Your right about Oasis being a great band. I love Oasis. At one time they held the record for the fastest selling debut album in UK history.

Your right about Johnny Marr being a great guitarist and he isn't widely talked about much. Someone recently mentioned Oasis. I actually heard Noel Gallagher of Oasis say in an interview that Johnny Marr was one of his influences when he was young. I think I remember also David Gavurin of The SUNDAYS, years ago  sayin' that Johnny was one of  his guitar heroes as well. As for Morrisey, like you said...he is unique...great voice.

     here some of my advices

    •  Norah Jones

Norah is an american blues/jazz/pop artist.. as i know, the second album of her - Feels Like Home, is pretty good and characterized in deep voice, and soft cadences.. i guess that the other albums [come away with me, not too late] are good as well.. and i'm anticipate to hear them.

    • Liquid Tension Experiment

Liquid is instumental group who established in 1997 and divided in 1999 after two albums, but these are special, and the reason why they desided to break up is  because the comrades of the group. they were the same group like in dream theater, so they did not see some reason to go on with the idea.the albums characterized in good technique, a lot of changes during the song.. in two words: true progressive

    Anyone knows THE KOOKS ?

They're a new band, from England, and have performed in the last edition of the Glastonbury festival. In 2006 they released their first album, called 'Inside in Inside out', by Virgin Records.

I simply love their music, really shiny but at the same time Complex. The guys have got a great future in front of them, and I'll be there to cheer for them Wink

Personally, I absolutely adore Soviet Kitsch. A lot of it is less commercially accessible than BTH (haha, not Bury the Hatchet!) but that kind of thing appeals to me. If you mainly like Fidelity and Better but are less keen on Edit and That Time then you may be disappointed.

I was ready to recommend the Smiths, but Lucija was quicker than me:)

Other bands, which I believe that they are worth listening to are  the Cure,U2 (my two favorite bands),as well as Joy Division and Siouxsie & the Banshees...
